PRESS RELEASE:
New Mediterranean fusion restaurant opens in Cheltenham town centre on Wednesday 10th December
Just before the start of the Christmas festivities a brand new restaurant opens its doors in central Cheltenham. At the Daphne Restaurant, Ilhan and Funda Bingol will be introducing first rate Mediterranean cuisine to the town with a taste of Spanish, Italian and Turkish food.
The restaurant based in a fine regency building in Crescent Place offers a bright, airy and attractive new place to eat in a great location. With the emphasis on exciting taste and a warm and hospitable welcome, Ilhan and Funda will be opening their door for lunches, evening meals and special occasion parties.
Ilhan, who was born in Istanbul but has lived in Cheltenham for 20 years has been an enthusiastic chef for many years as well as lecturing in Turkish for Gloscat said: “This has been a lifelong ambition. We have now found the perfect location for an informal and friendly restaurant offering a unique mixture of Mediterranean food. We are looking forward to creating exciting food, deliciously cooked and served with care.”
As well as offering excellent accommodation for tailor-made parties and celebrations, The Daphne Restaurant will also host music and dancing evenings in the New Year and Ilhan may also introduce Turkish classes for those who enjoy visiting the country for holidays. With two attractive floors there is plenty of scope.
Funda said: “I am passionate about food and always have been. I cook with love and start everything from fresh, basic, organic ingredients. My grandmother taught me to cook at home in Bodrum and she has inspired me to experiment with flavours and techniques.”
Funda has a clear idea of the kind of warm and personally welcoming restaurant that Daphne will become with the walls lined with her own paintings. She chose the name Daphne because it reminds her of the Daphne trees in her home town and of the romantic Greek legend.
The new restaurant looks set to appeal to shoppers looking to relax, office workers and those who enjoy interesting food in comfortable and informal surroundings. With good local parking, the Daphne Restaurant would also make an attractive location for private parties and weddings.
